Do you need help with your taxes? The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income people who make $50,000 a year or less. Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. Most locations also offer free electronic filing.

The EITC, or Earned Income Tax Credit, is sometimes called the EIC. It is a tax credit to help you keep more of what you earned. It is a refundable federal income tax credit for low to moderate income working individuals and families.
Great news! A second Knox County CAC Vita Site is now open. Persons living in the East Knoxville can now go to the CAC East Neighborhood center to have their taxes done for free. Taxes will be prepared and e-filed by the same trained VITA volunteers. Taxes at this CAC VITA location, and this location only, are done by appointment only!
